First Church is really excited and blessed to have completed the third year of AWANA. This year we had 21 children enrolled. The fun Bible Club for children ages 3K to Grade 8 met on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:15-8:00 pm. The church was filled with energy, learning, and lots of relationship building. Our prayer is that the AWANA Club will continue for many years and will be a place of learning and excitement that will have a positive influence on all of the children and that they may know, love, and serve God. Many thanks to the following AWANA leaders and volunteers: Shanti Samuel, Victoria Fuller, Michelle Fuller, Salud, Val Holzman, Karen Jesse, Mackenzie Bennett, Larry Cook, Deb Semrad, Laura Molleson, Barbara Sorenson, and Pastor Sam. Please spread the word and invite other families to join us as we begin year four in September.

Welcome Awana Clubbers

First United Methodist Church of West Allis is very excited to be able to offer the nationally recognized AWANA Club program for young people ages three through eighth grade. AWANA is an acronym taken from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.

Our clubs meet on Wednesday evenings at the FUMCWA during the school year from 6:15-8:00pm, September 15, 2021 through May 25, 2022. Children are challenged both spiritually and physically in a fast-paced learning environment geared toward their age level. For children ages three and four, there is the Cubbies program; for kindergarten through second grade, the Sparks program; for grades three through six, the “Truth and Training” program; and for grades 7-8, the Trek program.

Each evening is divided into three structured and supervised events: Game time, where boys and girls compete as teams and are encouraged to develop physical skills as well as good sportsmanship; handbook time, where children recite Bible verses learned at home and gain understanding as to what those verses mean to them personally; and large group time, where stories and guest speakers challenge the boys and girls with spiritual lessons. As the AWANA pledge states, the AWANA Club goal is “to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve HIM.” Come out and be part of the fun!
