Awana Update!

We are so excited to begin another new AWANA year on Wednesday, September 16. Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will be meeting in different ways. We have decided on a hybrid model using a blend of both online and offline experiences until it is safe to resume in person meetings. All AWANA families and Sunday School families will receive a registration letter. We will use Zoom, email, phone calls, Facetime, recorded videos posted on the church YouTube and we will gather in the church parking lot or the park for games and devotions. All social distancing and CDC guidelines will be strictly followed. We are pleased to offer an AWANA Club for grades 7 and 8 this year. Please reserve 6:15-7:15 pm on Wednesdays for our hybrid AWANA Clubs.

Welcome Awana Clubbers

First United Methodist Church of West Allis is very excited to be able to offer the nationally recognized AWANA Club program for young people ages three through eighth grade. AWANA is an acronym taken from the Bible verse 2 Timothy 2:15: Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.

Our clubs meet on Wednesday evenings at the FUMCWA during the school year from 6:15-8:00pm, September 16, 2020 thru May 19, 2021. Children are challenged both spiritually and physically in a fast-paced learning environment geared toward their age level. For children ages three and four, there is the Cubbies program; for kindergarten through second grade, the Sparks program; for grades three through six, the “Truth and Training” program; and for grades 7-8, the Trek program.

Each evening is divided into three structured and supervised events: Game time, where boys and girls compete as teams and are encouraged to develop physical skills as well as good sportsmanship; handbook time, where children recite Bible verses learned at home and gain understanding as to what those verses mean to them personally; and large group time, where stories and guest speakers challenge the boys and girls with spiritual lessons. As the AWANA pledge states, the AWANA Club goal is “to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve HIM.” Come out and be part of the fun!
