2017 Multi-Church Vacation Bible School at Apostle Presbyterian Church
July 17-21, 2017 – 9:00am to 12:00pm
Cooperating churches: Apostle Presbyterian, First United Methodist, and Mt. Hope Lutheran.
All children from age 3 through 6th grade are invited to attend!
This year’s theme is HERO CENTRAL: Discover Your Strength in God!. The program is an interactive, energizing, Bible-based curriculum that takes kids on awesome adventures alongside favorite Bible heroes while discovering the qualities that make them truly heroic in God! Join the children of Apostle Presbyterian, First United Methodist, and Mount Hope Lutheran as they encounter God’s awesomeness as they experience an epic adventure each day.
Hero Central uses epic music, spectacular science, crafty crafts, heroic recreation, and fantastic Bible stories to teach kids to:
Do Good! Seek Peace, and Go After It!
Registration will open mid-June. Check with your church office for a registration form. VBS is a free week-long event.
Each day at VBS, the children will learn Bible verses, act out Bible stories, biblical, contemporary music, watch and participate in skits, create crafts, play games in recreation, take part in a mission project, discover science activities, and have a healthy snack. Nursery care will also be provided.
Each family who registers will receive a free music CD of all of the hero-themed music! There is also a free Hero Central app.
During VBS this year, the VBS student Heroes will be learning about caring, sharing and serving others. Jesus came to serve others. When the VBS students serve others they are also serving God. As the kids learn to do good they will discover their strength in God!
Our mission project will be the Hope Closet. The Hope Closet is a ministry that provides new clothing for children and their families who are in transition. This means that they do not have their own home. They may be living in a shelter, with another family, or even in their car. The Hope Closet receives referrals directly from the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District. During the 2016-2017 school year, the Hope Closet served approximately 150 school age children, as well as parents, adult siblings, infants and toddlers. We ask that all of our VBS kids bring some change each day that will be collected during the opening session for the mission project. We will have a speaker from the Hope Closet visit us during VBS week.
On Thursday evening from 6:30-7:30pm, the children will present a VBS program with word and song. Afterward, all will enjoy an ice cream treat. And on Friday, the wonderful week of new friends and learning will end with a hot dog lunch.
Come to the HERO CENTRAL at Apostle Presbyterian – 1509 South 76th Street, West Allis for some SUPER FUN! THE KIDS WILL LEARN THAT THEY DON’T HAVE TO WEAR A CAPE OR BE A CRIME FIGHTER TO BE A HERO. AT VBS THE KIDS WILL REALIZE THE QUALITIES THAT MAKE THEM TRULY HEROES IN GOD!
Your Hero Central VBS Team Leaders!
